Trash talk

Let's talk trash. I'm talking about all the beer cans, pop cans, water bottles and other trash at Oak. I cannot and will not blame the league players because we are not the only ones that use the course. But, I will ask if we, as a league, can step up and remind others, and each other, to haul out what we bring in.

As I was playing today I picked up over 22 cans (and hauled them out in my disc bag) just from holes 8 to 18. So a few cans that you empty shouldn't be a problem to haul out as you play. I wasn't looking for them. I was just picking up the ones I saw as I played the course.

I've never seen a dog walker with a beer or joggers with pop cans. Most areas where there is trash are areas only used by disc golfers. This week I am going to do my part and try to clean some of it up . But, I would like to ask the administrators of the league if we can have a trash day during league next week. Each group bring a trash bag and be responsible for cleaning up a fixed set of holes as they play.

We do have some events coming up and it would be nice to have the place cleaned up and looking good.

Just my two cents

Thanks Lizard. I was just going to mention this. We need to clean the park before the membership drive.

We have two trash carts within 1 hole of walking of 90% of the trash. It is just rediculous. We should stack some serious shiz on anyone we see littering. It is out of control. Mostly limited though, to the casuals who just do loops on the first 5 holes.

We can carry bags with us in league next week, but we are really going to be pushed to finish most of the holes in the light. My suggestion is that if anyone can show up an hour early, get others involved for a few minutes to take care of this. If many players help out, it will only take minutes.

About six years ago there was a beautiful course nestled in a state park in Indiana. the course had been set up and established for a good 15 years but hadn't really gotten much used untill the last 10 years. the local league had set it up with permision of state park board. when players discoverd how cool the course was people other than the league players started useing it. I cost a buck to play but you could buy a seson ticket for 15 and play any time you wanted.

Long story short the state park board got tired of all the trash, ie beer cans and bottles, and make the league pull the course up . It was very disapointing that a few can ruin it for every one. The city parks board could easily do this to us if we dont step up and take care of our course.

There have been complaints already for what is happening at Oak Park.

I've never seen anyone litter on the course. If I had, the litterbugs would have heard it from me. I'm sure everyone else feels the same way. We'll get'r cleaned up (again).
