#6 Basket at Oak Vandalized

Post by Schoen-hopper »

"They" tore it loose and threw it in the pond. Steve Brown found it, got it out of the water, hid it, and let us know about it. I believe it's been picked up now. We'll know more tonight.

I think its probly the same little punks who tagged the nickle on hole 7.

We need to get a glo round organized so we can catch them in the act of defacing our course :!:

I know it has been 3 weeks now without a basket out there.

The city has it and needed to order parts for an extension to the base pole and a collar. They said it would be about another week.

That is love box's course and should be their responsibility not ours.

So the love box Company owns the baskets out there? Does any one know the person to contact about the course then?

I think technically it is an employees only course? (private property.) I don't know. I heard rumors that they were planning to get rid of the course. Again, I have no idea.

Well next time I'm out that way maybe i will check in at the front office of the comapny and ask about it. Would Our club be interested in maybe helping them out if we could use it for leagues once or twice a year? I like going over there to play when its mowed and kept up Like right now. Its also a great stop if your doing the maraton thing of going to newton then take broadway south to valley center and then south again to love box and then south again to oak . Rob and i did that a couple days ago and had a blast.

I've been calling about our basket and finally I got a call back. They said the basket was ready to pick up.

Before I asked someone to pick it up, I thought I'd check it out. I went out there and it was missing the flange and the pole was too long. I told them exactly what we needed and they said they should have it done some time next week. We'll have to plant the sleeve ourselves.

No flange needed on a basket that doesn't move. And the pole can be a mile long, just bury it. Will be probably make a stronger basket. Get it in the ground. :?: :?: :?:

That's fine. You can go pick it up and dig the hole and pour the concrete.

Seriously, if someone wants to get this in the ground, it's at 1245 S. McClean. I thought putting the basket in a sleeve would be better, but it's not critical. The only difference is a couple of days. If someone wants to put the basket in NOW, it'll need to get picked up Monday, before they make the modifications I asked for.

I could probably help if someone wants to take this on Monday. I imagine we'd want to dig a wide, but shallow hole and pound the basket down into the ground where it will stay put and straight without assistance. Then we could pour 3 bags of concrete in it. A wheelbarrow would be best for mixing, but with a rod, a spade, & a sharpshooter, we could probably mix it in the hole. I could probably get the latter 2 tools. Also need a sledge for securing the basket. I don't have a truck to get the basket though. Need someone to step up with that help.
