Winter League 2011
I'm going to post a new league schedule here in the next few days. Starting next week, we'll be going back 10 minutes per week in our starting time. Even then we'll have less than 90 minutes before full darkness. It was taking 2.5 hour to 3 hours or more earlier in the summer season to finish. As always, we are just going to have to change the pace of play to adjust for the circumstances. 3 somes wherever posible. No six-somes. If there has to be a large group, there should be only one large group and they should play at the back and keep up. Try to finish before dark and the experience will be better for everyone. The only thing the guy running league can do is to make sure it gets started on time. Some players may not get to play if they show up late. Fair warning.

Re: Winter League 2011
What really needs discussed is running league at Herman Hill this winter. I think daylight savings time ends shortly after the Round Up and weekend play resumed. Last year we switched from 2 events per weekend to 1. This made it easier for Mike and I to keep running league, since we were the only ones doing it. This year, Mike Speer will not be able to run winter league. Priority is family time, especially on the weekends. I know exactly how it is. That's why I don't want to run it twice a week, or even once a week. Saturdays is out for me as I'm usually working. Mike said he didn't want to quit running league altogether and that was why he had to decline running it this winter.
So we are looking for a volunteer to step up to this task. This person will need to use club documentation and communicate with me regularly to get inventory, handicaps, ace funds updated weekly. Club funds and league sheets will need to be turned in regularly. And unless we can figure out a way around it, you will need Microsoft Excel so I can send updated handicaps that can be printed off.
It's more responsiblity that anyone is really looking to take on. The incentive is it keeps the league running. But there is also an incentive rule that was implemented last year. After running almost a hundred league events per year and losing tons of money in gas and not cashing, I finally decided to do something so I, and later others, wouldn't get burned out and quit. Anyone who has run 10 league events or more in a 6 month period is then eligible to play league for free when running league. And they get a $2 additional discount on disc purchases.
I will put Saturday on the schedule. I'll list 1pm, but the time is really up to the person running it. I will not run it. And I will not have it being randomly run by people showing up the day of. I'll remove it from the schedule if there is nobody who wishes to fill this position.

Re: Winter League 2011
We are down to the last week of trying to find someone for running league at Herman Hill this winter. Here's the basic rundown of what is needed.
Whomever is helping, I will need to get you a league book and keys to the clubhouse. Everyone keeps their own books. I will not accept any league money from events run by a random person because nobody showed up. The person will need Microsoft Excel and to communicate with me via email for handicap updates, ace fund info, etc.
There are two people who have said they would be willing to help out some of the time. So if it's decided to run league every other Saturday at Herman, perhaps one main guy in charge could do 1 Saturday per month and communicate with the other 2 when a backup is needed. Please let me know if you are intersted.
