My girlfriend wanted to go to the park, so we went out and I played the "new" layout.... minus pins, yesterday.

All in all, I wasn't horribly thrilled.
make up your mind, do you like it or are you "not horibly thrilled"

If you dont like it no sweat, eric is a big boy, and he knows you cant please everyone. If you really dont like it then get involved and make suggestions to make it better.

We all have opinions and the great thing about this forum is that we can all express them, me personally I think the best setup I have ever played at the peter was in like 98-99 when we had a big club picknick, couldnt tell you more than 2-3 of the holes but damn there were some sweet ones.

yea Q, I dont like to sugar coat anything, so it tends to rile people up. I won't get involved in emporia, cause Im out of here the moment I graduate (2 months). That being said, I hope to get going with the local group wherever I move. I haven't really had a permenant residence for about 7 years (topeka).

I told Eric a few of my probs with the course, he reiterated why they ended up that way, and that was that. No big deal. For the most part, I like the modifications. I still dislike 13 thou =( .... I have since thought it might have been cool if that hole went to the left side of the tree line, instead of the right. I dont know if that was an original possibuility or not? Just my own personal thoughts. That's really the only hole I don't like. the rest are great (I like to rib about 16 cause its one of the few im guaranteed to hit green on... mainly, I was just joking that so many holes now days are super long... that hole seems like a fish out of water  ), and had i not played the previous layout (practically every day), I'd never would have said, "i wasn't horribly thrilled" in the first place. I just prefered that layout to the rest of them in emporia (and topeka for that matter).

The comment you are refering to, by the way, was my "first impression". First impressions are just that. I posted that, and later responded with my modified opinons. I think people get to bent out of shape when a person is just trying to be truthful. Im not judging or knocking people. Just being me. :D

All in all, I think its a pretty good re-design... I have shot several of my best games on the new layout. :D In fact, Ill be tee-ing off here in an hour.

PS: Hole 16 makes Rice Park look difficult :( Rice Park is the only place I'd driven with a Rhyno before yesterday.

according to the measured distances, it is also the 6th shortest hole on the course.

Easy its not. Two rounds, buzzz both rounds, par both rounds.

Buzz both rounds for me also, birdie and par.

If fact the entire leader card took 3's on it the last round.

4 1000 plus rated players taking 3's, that hole isn't ez. It is easy to get a 3 on, but the 2 is tough.

If I remember correctly, the leader cards CTP on that hole was outside the circle.

7 is a possible birdie, I like the pin, not the tee...soon to be a bridge between 6 basket and 7 tee??
Eric - did you guys ever think of reversing 7, so basket would be where Tee is, and the Tee would be where basket is now, and making it 13, instead of 7? It was just a curious thought that hit me while playing tonight.... might improve flow a bit. It'd have one hell of a nasty green...
... then 14 could run along the same fairway as 15 (only reversed direction). Just a thought i had while playing this evening.

By the way, hole 3 is quickly becoming one of my favorites. That green is a tough one to hit with a single shot with all the trees guarding it. Its birdie-able but definatly could force some long putts.... as Im sure it did during the tourney.
