Sunday, Can we do it Sunday?
My main reserve is the temp course not living up to the quality and status of our current course(s). I would hate golfers to come up because they have heard such good things about our courses and the temp course not living up to expectations.
The temp course would have to be exceptional and not just thrown together in a couple weeks. Which means that it is good we are talking about setting up and looking for holes now.
If possible it would be reighteous if we could use a ton of the project adventure course. Let's scout all of our territory really well and make sure we are considering many options.
Also Brett, as I am informed, the money from the grant that came from the CVB is to be used for advertising purposes. We really need to verify this information, and I am working on getting some contact numbers.

If we make a temp course, I'm in favor a doing a par 72, or at least mid 60's, course for advanced and open.
Why?
Because it would be sweet and it would require a lot of consistancy throwing that many shots; only adding difficulty to a more than difficult tournament. That's nice. Try keeping up that kind of pace throwing 65 - 75 throws instead of the normal 50 or so. It makes it tougher, I've spoke of this before (not in regaurds to the tournament) but par 72 is going to be the way of the future. It's already happening more and more at upper level tournaments. We should have enough room to have a lot of options.

All I'm saying is if were not playing at Frontier for 4 rounds its gonna BLOW!!! Everything I've learned on those holes for the last 6+ years might as well be worthless.........or cut in half

Why? Let me clarify any misunderstanding you may have about my stance.
I've stated my opinions and of course I'd prefer to keep it like it is just for the fact that it would be easier for me because of, like you said, home course advantage; Likewise, I'm probably the most apathetic person you know, and as such, I do not really care which way the dice roll. I'll play the courses whatever way they are set up and I will be happy about it.

Interesting note on the CVB Grant. They have all my contact information yet I've heard nothing. I mean come on, I filled out an application, it just sounds silly that we have to hunt down contacts. I've even sent follow up emails and have heard no replies. Oh well, guess that's good ol' Hays America for you.
Now, to reiterate a point that I made earlier, what do you see as the bigger picture for the future of the Frontier Open or more specifically for the future of disc golf in Hays? If our objective is to promote the sport of disc golf, how can we achieve this? ...Particularly if we all want is home course advantage? Does this really sound other oriented or self-oriented? Whose loss, whose gain?
Since I returned to Hays almost four years ago, all I've heard is pessimism on trying to accomplish anything for our sport. I was told I was wasting my time talking to Jeff Boyle, and look what happened. I'm not saying it hasn't been cumbersome, but we've come a long ways. He promised to replace the asphault tees with concrete tees last year, and now he's telling me "Brett, I'll try to work it in, but we're swamped this summer." But, I'll keep pushing for replacement tees.
The point I'm trying to make is this. I'm getting tired of the negative BS. I'm not objecting to individuals having an opinion or a position on issues involving our sport. We have the right to disagree and still be friends, right? But if your going to present a persuasive argument on how a temp course is going to negatively effect our tournament, back it up with some legitimant logical appeals. Do you really think that I would consider designing a birdie-fest temp course? I hope you know me better than that. I want to maintain the same level of integrity we have on our permeanent course as I would with a temp course.

In beloit I asked Tracy "What about this temp course thing?" Tracys reply "I think its a bad idea" thats why I said you have small nuts cuz you totally lied and didnt tell everyone else what you told me you chicken crap!!! A very well known distributor told me the same thing!!!
And no......... more people arent gonna come to our tourney just cuz we have a "new" temp. course in fact I wouldnt be surprized if less show. Concentrating our efforts on other things would be more worth the time.......like getting the date in the freaking pdga schedule.As for sunday I'll be playing some stick...........
Hope you put some tee pads behind some more poles or wires..........

After I get back, I come on here and try to elaborate on why it's a bad idea, being polite about it mind you, and all of a sudden I'm a crap. In the real world we call what I have posted; constructive criticism. I.e. "It should be done this way, but If it is done this way= it should be done like this." Apparently more elaboration is needed though.

Remember that this is really only the 2nd or 3rd year we really started promoting it. The first year we added alt pins. The next year we added alt sleeves and last year we added the alt pins. Now this year a new course? Most people only play this course once a year and that is for the Frontier. Waiting until we get an additional course could be best just to give some people time to get familarized with the new changes. While still impressing any newcomers. We already have enough holes for a different course every round.

Your feedback and professionalism is appreciated. Grant it, it will be the 3rd year that I have helped coordinate the events for the Frontier and I do think BIG. Maybe I am getting ahead of myself, but as the PR man it's my duty to address any problems encountered from the previous year and try to make resolutions. The flights were far from flawless, and the most logical resolution would be a temp course. Call me tomorrow.
