There never seems to be an end to the questioning about payout and where the money comes from and where it goes. I think people have questioned the payout in every event ever run.

Perhaps a SIMPLE finance sheet for KDGA events can be posted somewhere on the site. I know it's more work for the TD. However, if it can be SIMPLE and available, maybe it will help folks see where the cash comes from and where it goes. Most events are lucky to turn a small profit.

I'll throw out another idea. This one may have been tried, so let me know the results if it has been. If we want to focus on growing the sport then our demographics would be kids right? So maybe we could coordinate clinics with the tour next year. For example, next year when we play in Abeliene set up a clinic throughout the entire school district on that Friday. We'll teach them the fundamentals and invite them to come compete in a free recreational division at the tournament on Saturday. This way they can get the feel for the game and tournament style play, they would also become familiar with what the KDGA is. It would give the KDGA some identity and credibility in the community. It might also be a momentum builder for a dormant disc golf community.

This sounds like a really good idea, by the way. I'd think this was a great thing to start capitalizing on.

Clinics normally work better with 2 day events. It would be hard to get people to stick around for a clinic on a 1 day event.

2 Day events:

Salina
Doh Doh
Beloit
Emporia

These would be the best events to do a clinic.

Now that I can get back on track about what the topic is. What can I do to help promote KDGA in Beloit? Just asking for some in put. I'm sorry all you could get out of my 1st post, was I was concerned were the money gose. My point was don"t think adding cost to none members is the answer. Thanks Dave

We are probably not go in the pay to play if you are not a member route.

You and Adam just need to drag some Beloitites to more events.

Dale or I mean Shane or I mean Shane or I mean Dale was in Ellis right along with Manny. Hell Manny and his dropping bombs kid was at Rolling hills too so I think they played a few more events than alot of other people this year...........

The strategic planning matrix

Post by str8 »

When I organize my campaign for the Frontier open, I use what's called the strategic planning matrix. You can apply the same campaign for the KDGA. Here it is:

1. Background (know the history of the organization and the sport)
2. Situational Analysis (The current status of the sport and organization)
3. Central Core of Difficulty (issues discussed on this thread and prioritizing)
4. Preliminary identification of publics and resources (demographic audience)
5. Campaign Goals (shot and long term, realistic and optimistic)
6. Objectives (How will you accomplish your campaign) media tools, relationships, research, evaluation tools, advertising, resources, ect.
7. Key Publics (Who else benefits from this sport and organization)
8. Message Design (mission statements, logical appeals, credibility appeals, emotional appeals, media tools, media outlets)
9. Stategies (persuasion)
10. Tactics
11. Calendar
12. Budget
13. Communication Confirmation
14. Evaluation Criteria
15. Evaluation Tools

Additional problems are usually discussed here.

Remember the thread entitled: Chronlogy of Kansas disc golf courses. I was attempting to do research. But it's hard to do when you don't live in the community or even the region. As a Kansas born and raised resident, I'd love to have a publication that is updated annually just like the PDGA directory. That's something we can give back to the state.

So if everyone who reads this thread takes the initiative to do a little bit of research in his or her own community, we could achieve something I doubt any other states have, A Chronology of Kansas Disc Golf.

Notorious ROG wrote:I think reminding people at key Tournies of the KDGA by having supplemental payouts from membership fees, for paid members, would be cool. Why save it all to the end, why not pick certain events and have KDGA member only payouts or bonuses or giveaways or etc. on top of the normal purses.

Pick some key KDGA membership tournies with good attendance...

Colwich Feb "Early bird payout"
Herrington April "Time Change payout"
Wichita May "Riverfest payout"
Belloite June "Barbeque Payout" (this one is already being done free food.)
Emporia July "Glass Blown payout"
Hays Sept "Frontier payout"
Friz Oct "Party Time payout"
Salina Dec "Year End payout" this one is already being done, but we should spread money over the year at some of the other tournies

This would be a friendly reminder of the benefits of KDGA membership all year long and these could serve as membership drive tournaments. I like the idea of emphasing the KDGA by giving something out at Key Events.

This is not meant to slight smaller tournies but membership drives need to be held where the most people are available to be sold on the benefits of KDGA....

These tournies could also serve as key times for us to hold business meetings, thanks ROG
Ive been thinking about becoming a KDGA member, and a thought came to my mind. but i dont understand how points are given or what. but if more points were to be given out at the tourney's that dont have as many people. could attract more people at those events.

dont know if that sounds stupid but i was just thinking

Also, since i have been thinking about becoming a member, but still suck at the game since i've onlt been playing about 15 months or less. I love the game and all, but for some friends that have come with me to tourney's this year, i doubt they would come if they had to pay more than me because they aren't a member

and yes i've been doing alot of thinking LOL!!!

They used to give bonus points out for hard to reach tourneys. That was when the points were used in qualifying for the skins match.

I think we did away with the bonus points to encourage people to attend the main events when we did an OZ super tour.

I thought we was playing the point system straight up now that they aren't being used for qualifying, but with the bonus points given to the sunflower games event, I guess I was wrong.

They advertised it that way, with checking it out first. So it was only the right thing to do.
