Back to Origin Tourney

Post by Pardiscman »

Thinking about holding an back to origins event. Kind of a "quest for fire" thing shooting natural targets at Big Hill lake (15 miles west of Parsons) the weekend of 9/24. 36 holes, very wooded, hills, lots elevation change, lake, bluffs. Handmade trophies. Is this something you guys would come do???? Just looking for some interest.

Have you been playing disc sports for a while Pardiscman? :) Have I seen you around at a tournament?

Bluffs in Kansas? Sounds like a pretty cool area for a course. What will the targets be? How do you know when you've found the fire?

Sounds like a good time. It might help the youngsters appreciate and understand the evolution of the game. I'll consider it if there's enough interest.

That is a bad weekend. With the Shunga, and Stillwater, it might be hard to get people to come...

I think this sounds like a cool event. There is some really beautiful, varied land down in SE Kansas that would host an awesome DG event, espescially during the fall months.

Keep us informed on the details Pardiscman. How will this event be different from what we do today? It could be quite interesting. I'm sure this event will generate some interest.

We wanted to do something different. Shoot trees and other targets some manmade some natural. Several of us here have played the course and its pretty cool. We got one hole that shoots of a 50' bluff out to a target about 600'. Like I said wanted to do something diff. Might be an opportunity to get some new KDGA members. Would expect several MO players would show up.

I would love to come to Parsons again and play the new permanant course too. Is there any way you could consider a different weekend, I can not miss the Shinga this year, and would hate to miss the oppurtunity to play parsons with you guys again.

If you really want to go back to the origins of the sport, you need to pass out some vintage plastic too! Maybe some Wham-O Pro Models! I have been tossing around some kind of old Wham-O disc and it is kinda cool. Problem is they don't go very far, but they sure do hang in the air a long time! Very fun to watch fly! Maybe this is an idea for another tourney... :)
