1-on-1 Frontier Skins League
1-on-1 Frontier Skins League
Beginning April 16 and continuing through September 3, anyone interested is welcome to meet @ hole 1 on Wednesdays around 5:00 for a 1-on-1 Skins League. Once I get a feel for how many will show up , I'll try to devise a schedule of weekly match-up assignments. Ideally, each player will have a new opponent each week.
Due to the 1-on-1 format, it will not be crucial to show up at 5. As long as arrangements are made with your match-up, I think it will work for players to meet later (or earlier) in the day or even on a different day. Having all results for each week by the following weekend would be nice.
All skins must be won outright. NO PUSH!!! Each match will consist of 18 holes, regardless of when the match is "won". No extra holes for ties. Here is why: Each player has 21 weeks (matches) to collect as many skins as possible. On Wednesday, September 10, EVERY player will be receive $0.50 per skin, with the remainder being paid out in a final skins match. Possibilities for the final: (a) top 4 skins earners play one match, or (b) rank ALL players for a final skins match where the higher ranked cards are worth more of the cut. This will all depend on turnout and money left after payout on the 10th.
How about this: $4.50 entry $.50 ace
Start spreading the idea around and get me some feedback. 5000.

Sounds pretty cool. When does it start and do you have to be a member to compete? I like the flexibility of match's to be played throughout the week.
Might need to think about how much each skin is worth at the end of the season and how much you charge. If each skin is worth .50 at the end of the year, but your only charging 4.50 to play it could create a deficit. But I think it just needs a little tweaking and we'll get it figured out.

Each week, each match-up pays $9.00. This covers 18 skins at $0.50 apiece. While, it's possible, it's not probable that all 18 skins will be won. The .50/skin that isn't goes to the pot for the end of the league. I thought of going $3/week to draw #'s, but I realized that if someone like Mr.Smith came to town every wed. I would probably have to move in August. The 50-cent ace fund was just to round it up. I figure any ace fund not won by Sept. would be added to the pot as well. I was thinking that we would payout Wed. before Frontier, so that people would have help w/ entry fees; now that I see that the 10th is after, I think it wouldn't be so bad to get paid out after, when everyone is busted from the tourney. Tracy might agree.
The flexibility on playing times is, again, to draw #'s; I just don't want it to get to flex. I want to be able to make a rough schedule each month, but I don't want people to not shy away, thinking they have to commit to a long-term league. Show up once with a hot round (18 skins), and it may qualify you for a higher card in the finals, just because it may take others 3-5 rounds to get that many skins.
I was at first leaning toward a finals skins match with the 4-5 top skins earners, but now I think if everyone who plays (at least 3 weeks?) qualifies for Sept.10, then we could just break the pot down. 50%-top card, 30%-second card, 15%-third, etc. This all depends on what is left in the pot.
As for membership as a requirement...again, I want #'s. I want the guy who walks upon our players' meeting or whatever to feel he can jump in w/o signing up. But, there's gotta be a way to make being a member beneficial to the league, but that is not for me to decide (by myself anyways).
This is the type of discussion that will be needed to make this a successful idea. Now if I could only come up with something like this to make this Tuesday cricket tourney grow.

When you say "no push", do you mean drop all skins at the end, or do you mean that on every hole, if a skin isn't won, it is dropped rather than added to the next hole?
If you are dropping all the skins, you will likely average paying out $1.50 per round or less. Also more like stroke play that way, or say playing pool for $.50 a ball left on the table.

Straight up; you win 3 holes, you win 1.50. I win 4 holes, I get 2.00. $5.50 goes to the finals match pot. If just 10 people show up each week, for 20 weeks, and the average # of skins paid out per match is 16, there is a $100 pot at the end, which isn't bad (plus players have bigger skins payouts). But if the avg. skins pd./match is lowered to a more realistic 12 or even 9, the pot grows to $300 and $450, respectively. Of course, the skins payouts are smaller. The max skins payout after 20 weeks, for an individual is $180. SWEET! just like darts. The max pot after 20 weeks, with 10 players is $900. Both of these maximums nearly impossible to experience.
