Tuesday Singles League

We had the same problem in Topeka last year... We had three league nights (one kanoli, not associated with dddc). We did dubs on mon, skins on tuesd, and singles on wed. We would get about an average of 5-7 at doubles, 10 at skins, and 10-12 at singles. This year, we cancelled the doubles to promote attendance at singles league. We also included a beginner division for $1 (with a min. of $5 payout) to get people out there that may not feel comfortable playing against more experience and paying $5. Anyway, it has worked very well. We have more new faces out at league than ever... many of them the casual golfers that we saw on the course and just encouraged them to show up. Most of them started in the beginners div, got more comfortable and moved up to am. We've been averaging 25-30 per week with this format. Anyway, I think the inexpensive beginners division is what helped us the most. Got people used to being at league and eventually they don't mind paying $5. We also added bag tags and have been pushing membership as well. I think if people are a member of a club, they feel like they are part of something and will be more prone to show up. Hope this helps. We've also been paying ams out in merch rather than cash.
