USDGC

Post by terric »

Hi Everybody,

Looks like it's time to set the record straight on this tournament. The list of 2005 qualifying tournaments has not been posted yet - check the website for more information www.usdgc.com. Qualifying at one of these events and sending your entry fee in ASAP is the only way to guarantee your spot in the USDGC.

Several years ago the qualifying tournaments weren't spread out around the country very well, so Harold started allowing PDGA State Coordinators to pick a state representative to send to the tournament. There weren't 50 spots reserved, and when the tournament filled up that was it.

Last year Harold tried reserving 50 spots for PDGA SC's to fill. As always, if the $ wasn't sent in, the spot wasn't kept. I have no idea what he'll do this year.

For the record -- I've always asked at all tournaments and posted wherever I could that anyone interested in attending the tournament needed to contact me by a specified date. 2004 was the first year I had more than 1 person ask for the spot. I offered a playoff, but it was declined and the players worked it out between themselves. Other Kansas players earned their spot at a qualifying event.

Once again -- I have no idea what the rules will be this year. If you want to attend the USDGC your best bet is to earn your spot at one of the qualifying tournaments, then send your entry fee in right away.

Another qualifying tournament you might want to consider trying for is the Player's Cup, to be held in Florida. It's financed by Discraft, their answer to the USDGC. Look for information on it soon. And remember, it's still considered an honor to get invited to World's and do well there!

From the USDGC main page..

Section 3. State & National Representatives
PDGA State and National Coordinators may select one competitor to represent their state or country in the 2005 Championship. State & National Representative positions are guaranteed through August 1, 2005. Coordinators may have this deadline extended if relying on a state series or competition that concludes after August 1. The full entry fee must be paid by August 1, 2005 even if a competitor has not been named. Coordinators needing an extension should contact the USDGC office for complete details.
Players seeking these spots should contact their State or National Coordinator for more information

I vote for The Emporia's "Glass Blown Open" to be the Qualifying event for Kansas....what does eveybody else think???

I would love to play. Since E-mac will long since have qualified by the time E-town rolls around It will be the three of us. And btw I think playing a round with the L factor and stinky would be a blast even if there were no stakes.
