Food Drive Feb 27

Post by smitty »

I plan on heading out to the park this weekend to do some planning.

Here is what I am thinking, pre-plan.

Main Park- (3)
1 Bomber hole (2 drives, upshot, and putt)
2 Quality holes with as many trees and OB roads as possible.

Transition holes (2)
Both will be over the water and we will use the bridge to cross and finish the hole.
1- Will be open at the tee and trouble on the opposite side. (basket probably on hill by trail entrance)
2- Will be trouble off the tee, opposite side Open.

That means we will have 7 or 13 holes in the trails and on the dike.

Basket Count:
Smitty - 3
Chris Tyler - 3
Shan - 2
Burley - 1
Muddy - 2
Twins - 1
-----------
12 Total

Smitty, I have 2 baskets. One of them is the pop up type you won at the pratt ice bowl last year and my other one is portable but is a little crooked. It still works fine though. Let me know if you need them.

If you want to do a hanging basket I can bring a total of 3.

Twins have a basket, I'll see if they want to play and I'm sure they'd loan it out.

Crawler, I thought you had a basket as well. I thought you said that you had a homemade basket?

We have the unofficial OK to do something in the park.

I plan on heading out there today after school to work some stuff out. Then I will meet with Mark after school tomorrow to show him the official design.

I do but I don't know if anyone will want to use it. It could be a last resort basket but it does work well.

I was working out there today. Almost have it cleaned up. Hopefully I can get out there tomorrow and finish it up. I'll be cutting down some of the tall weeded area. Smitty if there is a paticular area you want me to hit, like the last time we played out there. Give me a call.

Saturday at 2:00.

I plan on making a final design. If you want to see it and put in your say, be there.

As of now it looks like maybe:
Start behind the shelter we used last year, and play about a 500 some footer.
Then 5 more parks in Island Park.
(6 holes)

Then Nature trails:
Under the sign and in.
Short Anhzer
Long tunnels shot
Then the shared hole (Play it twice again)
Blair Witch hole
Then the hole to the slope
(back to the shared hole)
Play the long tunnel shot out of the trails to the dike. Maybe move the basket to the left or right.
Play down below the dike back toward Island Park.
Play a back toward the nature trail entrance.
(10 holes)

Walk across the bridge:
Play 2 more holes in Island Park.

I have walked the trails several times and cannot find a good way to play all the good parts without using the double hole. The only other option would be to cut a trail out of the trees and we know that isn't an option.

The main thing I plan on focusing on Saturday is making sure we get the OK for Island park.

Who said you can use my baskets?

I should be able to play this one-- I'll have to talk to the warden

Ben, Caleb and I spent some time walking the park and the trails. The course will be much different then last year, if all goes well with the Parks Department on Monday.

We will have fewer short holes in the trails and more quality holes out of the trails. Should be a good mix of Ace Races, thinking holes, and typical throw and putt disc golf holes.

I think the design will play out well.
