Also, I will have membership forms available.
KDGA- You have to be a current 2010 member to get your 10 points for attending this Ice Bowl / Food Drive event. As long as I have your membership by the end of the day you are good.
ACDGC- The Ice Bowl is the last day for 2009 members to renew for only $10. Otherwise it is $15.

Pretty close on baskets. Please post if you can't make it, maybe somebody can pick up your basket(s). If you can, show up around 8:30am Sunday morning to get all the baskets on the course in time for everyone to get a little warm up and come back inside for the players meeting.

Got the gate keys and looked over the course tonight. Looks great: everything is a go. Not even muddy. I'll get it flagged Friday or Saturday so they don't walk away.
A reminder: ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL in the Community Center. They usually keep all deposits from groups who don't submit to this.
I attended a meeting and suggested a permanent course out here. Not sure the Oaklawn Board is interested yet or not; I'll be working with them. But I said that the best way for them to see what it is all about would be to come out to the event on Sunday. So let's keep that in mind: we are setting the image for disc golf players.

If we are setting an image for them and they may be out there then we should just make it no alcohol at all. that way we dont have to worry about them seeing any one drinking and we dont have to worry about a bunch of beer cans being left behind. Being that we are trying to get a course out there why not just ask for every one to be at thier very best and ban it compleatly?

I don't want this thread going in that direction. Please just keep the club & the sport's image in mind while at the event. And thanks.

Me and Scott are going to layout the flags for the course on Saturday and try to shovel tee boxes, whatever we can do. Right now I'm thinking 1pm-ish? If anyone wants to help, give me a holler.

Looks like we'll have a real Ice Bowl this year! 3 to 9" of snow, wow! Where is the global warming at?
We'll have handwarmers available. I also bought some ribbon, tape, & string. For anyone who wants to try this:
http://kcfdc.org/forum/index.php?topic=4254.0
A few other details on the tournament:
*Everyone will get an Ice Bowl mini, as always.
*We'll be giving away 3 Fox & Hound $100 party certificates.
-1 will be from a raffle drawing for the mulligan purchasers. Also raffling an Innova Traveller basket.
-One will be a CTP give away. Probably the short hole 8. There will be 2 other CTP holes with disc prizes. CTP's will be all division, all rounds, so everyone will have 6 shots to win.
-Last party card will be a bounty for the lowest score for the tournament. This will be in addition to the regular payout.
*A couple of special rules.
-As with last year, if you end up with a lie with any kind of thorns or sharp foliage that is likely to harm you on a throw attempt, free relief will be granted on a line straight back from the pin to the nearest point where the thorns/ sharp foliage is no longer in the throwing motion.
-For lost discs, after 3 minutes, a player may throw from where the group agrees the disc was approximately last seen. A stroke penalty is taken, but the player does not have to throw from the previous lie. This was a rule change a couple years back. We'll revert due to the snow. Of course, a player could always burn a mully and rethrow from the previous lie.

Also, please come early: around 8:30am, if you can help with getting baskets on the course. Can anyone bring an ATV, preferable something that could carry baskets, like a Mule? A truck with 4WD would be good too. Ground is probably good & frozen, but don't want anyone getting stuck. Try not to spin em'!

Mike I have seen that trick with the ribbon but with bright colorerd yarn instead and only one peice of tape with the yarn wraped around it three times . works great and the yarn creates hardly any drag . I will have mine and a friends disc all set up and ready to go. Good tip though it does save from losing discs. I use 2 feet when play disc in deep snow. Minnesota boy here so we always yarn our disc in the winter.

I will be driving my truck there and the 4WD works now. I will try to be there as early as possible.
Another trick for finding discs in the snow is to use chalk line chalk and put some on your disc before throw that way you can have a colored mark where your disc hits the snow if it buries into the snow.
