Although I understand what you're trying to say, probably not the best way to do so...

I have been wrestling with this issue in my mind; whether to be PDGA or not. I know that by being PDGA, it will draw more people from afar. But is Colwich ready; that is; groomed enough to be presentable to a professional crowd. While the Course hasn't looked better and will be even greater once another work day occurs, I am not sure that is enough to keep some players from drawing blood retreiving discs. I have supported the PDGA for over 20 years and have been a member of the KDGA since inception. We have needed more PDGA events in Kansas and Smitty is finally doing what a state coordinator should do. He may be using the KDGA to push this agenda but I personally don't have a problem with that. Let these new directors of the KDGA have free reign. And let membership numbers be the guage by which we judge. It is with members that money is raised to do the things that members want, parties, course improvements etc and then compare what they do by what was done in the past before you judge. For now, Colwich will be KDGA only. Friz Rocker better be there. If my mind is changed by the ACDGC, I will pay Friz Rockers PDGA fee.

Parting with money and feeling good about it - is a result of finding value in doing so. Over the course of a year (now nearly 10 years for me) I've found disc golf dollars to be money well spent...win or lose...birdie or bogey. Yes, any increase(s) in costs is to expected...especially these days...but it's still money well spent...double&triple bogeys excluded. :| :lol:

All I have to say is: It's still way way way cheaper than ball golf and that's all I care about. I guess all the courses could charge greens (basket) fees to offset all the costs of the KDGA and PDGA. All the years I played ball golf....I never complained or heard anyone complain about all the fees that go along with that sport. Can you imagine going to a driving range and buying a bag of discs to practice your driving??????? Hey I switched from ball golf to disc golf because it was too expensive to just practice. If disc golf gets too expensive for me I will just switch sports again...not complain about it. What's the use. It just causes problems for everyone. Smitty is doing a superb job as State Coordinator and if and when disc golf gets as big as ball golf then we've succeeded. But, you can't become that big unless you go through all these struggles. Keep going Smitty.....You're on the right track. Disc golf is still a free sport....so if you want to have fun without spending money....just go out to your local disc golf course and have all the fun you want. But don't bring down the rest of us who are willing to spend a little bit of money for the same fun.

It`s hard to take anyone serious about costs of entry fees when:
#1 they make upwards of $35,000 a year.
#2 they consistently cash.
Almost everyone who disagrees with me on this issue, falls into one of these two categories.{Including the Top 2 Pros and Top 2 Pro-Masters}
When you have to choose between your woman and discgolf, don`t be stupid-choose the discgolf.

Hey I agreed with you, but then again I am a poor college student.
I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.

Jeff and I are planning the Scholarship Fundraising Tournament for the spring this year and as a part of the KDGA schedule to attract more people. A new course has been designed and will include some tough holes in the treed area out back. This is not a chip and putt course as we normally use. And yes, I am talking the Tick Ranch. The only date that will work for Jeffs schedule is MARCH 24. Mark your calenders. (We don't have KDGA approval yet however).

Bill-

I think that will work. I moved the Winfield event that was going to be on the 24th, to the summer. I will ask the other guys, but I see nothing wrong with it.

Get those tourneys sanctioned!

Post by doc »

Yesterday I got a call from a fellow Am Master Bill Hecht, (who last year moved to central Missouri - poor phlucker :twisted: ), and he's planning out his entire year re: vacation time(s), DG tournaments, family & work obligations, etc... Anyways, the sooner ALL tourneys are sanctioned and on the PDGA Tour calendar, the sooner folks like him can plan accordingly.

I realize there's plenty of heat from different sources re: this sanctioning, but as a self-employed kind-a-guy I hadn't fully realized how other folks have to plan their lives...as knowing full~well & in advance what is available tourney-wise//time-wise is a wonderful thing!

So far, it looks to me like attendance is climbing. :wink:

Save for Dodge, of course. Blizzards tend to do that.
