BTW Smitty, do MO, CO, NE, OK state coordinators check with you on scheduling? Just curious how well the communication works?

I never hear from any of them. Unless we step on their toes. I always look at the PDGA schedule from previous years. Just to check if there is an event going on in a neighboring state traditionally on that weekend. What you will find out Brett is that people are only concerned with their own events. We are all the same, we think that we do it the best.

I can tell you one thing that would really help a ton. A Ryan Beisner course tour. It would take a little work, since you have so many options that we play. Alt tees and Alt pins make it tough. It may be worth it. Just to show people how kick butt the course is. (Ryan you need to start a little side business doing this. I know of a couple courses towns that are interested already.)

Btw Ryan, If you need someone to promote your Photo Course Tours, I think you could talk Smitty into it!

Just a reminder to cast your vote in the PDGA elections. As I said before, please vote for the incumbents (myself, Ron Convers, Todd Andrews and Juliana Korver) :D

Bob, I appreciate your passion and commitment to the sport. I want to know what more can and is the pdga doing to promote new course development? There are many towns where players try to get courses built where it seems it's a major uphill battle. There is a perception that this is a free sport and if courses cost money to put in, some cities are not willing to devote cash to the cause, even if it's something as small as mowing the course. What can we do to sell disc golf as a desirable activity worthy of throwing a few bucks at from the communities? Do you see disc golf eventually moving to private courses (such as ball golf)?

It's getting near impossible to NOT go up against other regional events. I remember when it was a dozen tournaments a season. Now it a dozen a month.

Try being next to Iowa, I swear there is a PDGA event every weekend across the river! You may start getting more Nebraska boys going south. There is a nice tournament playing group in McCook. They have a nice course, too.

Smitty, you get to deal with someone else from Nebraska next year. I'm not running again.

Looks like I will win by default again. I should have ran for the BOD! I would be a better member then Dave, and I promise that D-Bag is going to get on the board. Maybe Bob and Ron can keep him in line.

We have some resources at the PDGA containing the demographics of the sport and the dollars that it can bring into a community or the health benefits of disc golf. We are constantly developing additional info and resources to take with you when you promote a new disc golf course. Brian Grahan, our Executive Director, is a good person to call concerning this and I'm sure he would be glad to help you if you have a specific need.

The ACDGC has faced the money pressures that you mentioned and I'm not certain what is the best way around the problem. Wichita has taken some convincing and us paying for the initial basket and pad installations in both parks but they are now seeing the benefit and are working with us well. Ditto with Derby, even though the smaller cities seem willing to do more at an earlier phase.

I don't see disc golf moving to private courses in the near future even though there are many pay-for-play venues now.
